Inside NYFW: An Intimate Look At 3 Shows

The Blonds
In a word…ELECTRIFYING! Soulful sounds fused with pulsating house music to kick off The Blonds SS 2017 show earlier this week. The fashion duo, known for their eccentric interpretations and iconic designs, debuted their collection to a jam-packed house, including industry trendsetters Patricia Fields, June Ambrose, and Ty Hunter. Musical sensation Teyana Taylor and hubby made waves too as they sat front row with Dascha Polanco, Karrueche Tran, Christina Milian, and Kelly Osbourne.


As a brand, The Blonds are considered a mainstay in every dynamic diva’s closet from Beyoncé to Cookie Lyon. This collection embodied a bolt of lightening, gobs of blonde ambition, and a splash of hard-core Elektronika. This unique formula conveyed spring as the perfect time to release your futuristic inner warrior princess. Each look fused chrome and crystallized embellishments with a classic combination of muted nude tones. Outrageous platinum afro’s accentuated the looks, while bejeweled nails designed by  favorite Mei Kawajiri were absolutely exquisite.

The most exciting – and perhaps surprising – part of the show was the male fashion! Equally futuristic and refreshingly modern, these masterminds reinvented classic kilt and laurel wreath silhouettes in a way that rendered sexy, star-gazing masculinity. Job well done to both Phillipe and David Blond (who are truly two of the sweetest guys you’d ever wanna meet… Seriously). It was a joy to witness their work and their infectious love for both each other as well as the imaginative world of high fashion.

Stevie Boi
Stevie Boi aka Stevie “Boi” Wonder (a new title we’re crowning him with) is one of fashion’s most fascinating eyewear designers. You may remember his innovative designs which revolutionized the industry and have been worn by Lady GaGa, Queen Bey, Maddona, Kanye, and RiRi, to name a few.

The not-even-30-something protégé presented his SS2017 collection to an adoring crowd at NYFW. Cabin revealed a rustically chic spin on spectacular specs. Exotic woods and shapes complemented the wide ranging hues of his culturally diverse camp of models. Each look was equally complemented with captivating apparel that conveyed elements inspired by the great outdoors as well.

While the exaggerated, futuristic spirit of SB Shades has been subdued a bit to mimic the simplicity of rustic life, Boi has solidified himself as a style staple for those who view fashion as essential as nature.
LaQuan Smith
Yes…Yes…and more yes! We want it all. Designer LaQuan Smith, who has recently seized center stage in the wonderful world of fashion due largely to his popularity with Kardashian Queendom, shared a breathtakingly light, airy yet oh-so-chic wearable collection just yesterday during the final days of NYFW.


Pretty much consolidating all the things we love about dressing for warm weather, Smith’s SS2017 collection delivered mystical mesh jumpsuits and midi dresses, metallics and crisp whites, as well as pastels with a bit of ash undertones to give each piece an intriguing twist. Each element when thinly layered together created ultra glam lux looks that still felt pragmatic and edgy. It was spectacular without being pretentious!

As if that wasn’t enough, LaQuan served his sexy sleek inspirations against the backdrop of snatched ponytail and glowing skin models. It was just what us die hard LQ fans ordered and then some.
