I have always used the Lakme CC cream for makeup and I so love that product. I am not a makeup person but was tempted to buy this 3 in 1 product. The new Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation is an addition to their 9 to 5 Primer + Matte range. Read on to see if this earns a permanent spot in my vanity.

Product Description:

A first of its kind product, the Lakme 9 to 5 primer plus matte powder foundation is a primer, foundation and face powder all in one. The built-in primer gives you the benefit of a long-lasting foundation that conceals fine lines, blemishes, and blends effortlessly into your skin. Its powder texture gives your skin a comfortable and smooth matte finish.

Usage:

In order to get the flawless look, apply the product to your face and blend well using a sponge. It goes well, with Lakme 9 to 5 primer plus matte lipstick.

Packaging:

The compact comes in a square cardboard packaging with the product description on it. The packaging is quite sturdy and looks like the normal Lakme 9-5 range of products. It comes in a rose gold reflective case on the top and the lower lid is made of plastic to avoid damage to the case. I love their rose gold packaging as it looks super stylish. The product has a separate section for the product and the applicator puff. The lower lid, which is meant for the applicator puff has small holes in it for air circulation and ventilation. This would also help the puff to breathe and prevents it from catching any bacteria or fungus, even when wet. It comes with a protective plastic sheet on the compact to protect it from dust and a built-in mirror.

One thing I noticed was that there is a slight space between the product and the container. Not a major flaw, but thought this was worth mentioning. This is travel-friendly but one word of caution here – The product is very fragile so you need to be extra careful. Will break if dropped.

My take on Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation Compact:

The Lakmé 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation is the ultimate product with its ability to eliminate elaborate makeup routines. This comes in 6 beautiful shades, all suitable for Indian skin tones. The best part about these shades is that they have introduced 2 new shades, that are best suited for deeper skin tones. I picked up Silky Golden which matches my skin tone the best.

Now let’s talk about its texture. The texture is very creamy, smooth and silky. This blends in without much effort and gives a light yet good coverage. It doesn’t leave a white cast and gives a flawless matte finish. It is quite pigmented too. Now talking about its staying power. I think this will work well for all skin types especially oily skin, since it lasted for a good 5-6 hours, after which I had to touch-up. Dry skinned beauties may need to moisturize well before using this, or it may get a little cakey.

It failed to live up to its claims of concealing lines, pores and blemishes (if you have too many). I tried concealing and then using this and it worked like magic. So, if your skin is at its best, this is for you, otherwise, you may need a little bit of concealer and foundation as a filler. This can be used dry as well as wet. The only thing I noticed when I used it wet, was that the product would look patchy on the skin after a while. It blends smoothly with the sponge applicator, but I was curious to try it with a brush as well (as makeup junkies do). I tried using it with a brush but spilled a lot of powder all over. I am giving it the benefit of the doubt since I am a novice at this.

Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation Compact:

• No SPF content.
• Does not live up to its 9 to 5 (8 hours) claim. Does stay for a good 4-5 hours.
• Dry skin beauties may need to moisturize well before applying this product.
• Doesn’t cover up blemishes. Will help those with minimal skin issues.
• Product may break if not handled with care.

Will I repurchase/recommend Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation Compact?

Yes definitely. It works well for a light makeup person like me. I think this is the “perfect beauty multi tasker” which has already found a space in my vanity. I would definitely need feedback from the other makeup pros on this one.
