One Direction Explain Why They Need a Break: 'We're All a Bit of a Mess'

Five years of touring, albums, and interviews can take a toll. That's why the One Direction guys are totally in need of this planned hiatus. Like, they have to do it to recharge and get a taste of the normal life so they can come back together refreshed.

Also, they admit they're "a bit of a mess" these days. Hey, their words...not ours.

Liam Payne told The Mirror the real reason behind the break: "Basically we are all a bit of a mess."

Niall Horan added, "We've had five years of craziness. Now we all need to go away, become mad old recluses, then come back again with giant beards."

Oh, Nialler, we all know you can't grow a giant beard, silly!
